Abstract
|
Background. The study of the peculiarities in the political potential of modern youth is of significant scientific interest from the standpoint of analyzing their commitment to participate in the political life of the country. Spiritual and moral components such as patriotism and citizenship acquire a special role in the process of forming and realizing political and protest potential of youth. The aim of the study is to examine the influence of patriotic attitudes on political and protest potential of youth. Materials and methods. The study tasks are achieved through the systemic, structural and functional approaches. Based on the materials of the author's quantitative and qualitative research among youth in the Penza Region (2018, 2020, 2021), a secondary analysis of data from other studies, sociological analysis of patriotism and its role in forming and developing political and protest potential of youth is carried out. Results. The dynamics of citizenship and patriotism in the youth environment is considered, the main components of youth patriotic complex are analyzed, youth patriotic attitudes are studied and their relations with social, political and legal components of youth political potential are revealed. Conclusions. The decreasing importance of patriotism for modern youth and the changing structure of the patriotic complex are noted. The social portrait of “young patriot” is presented. The relationship of youth political potential with patriotic identity is revealed.
